Start: Zahara de la Sierra, Andalusia, Spain
This ride is a 56km loop traversing through the parque natural de la Sierra de Grazalema. It starts from the pleasant Pueblos Blancos village of Zahara de la Sierra. From Zahara de la Sierra the ride heads west through farmland and cork forests and then follows the west border of the Parque natural to reach the white village of El Bosque. The ride to this point is relatively flat, though kept interesting by a few undulations and the cork forests. From El Bosque, the ride enters the parque natural de la Sierra de Grazalema and initially zig-zags its way before following the mountains' contours to reach the Puerto del Boyar (1103m). This section of the ride was more like a French col ascent compared to the others that we had ridden in Anadalucia. The ride then dips for a couple of kilometres before it again heads up to the Puerto de las Palomas (1189m). From here the ride has a short and steep descent to Zahara de la Sierra. Although a shorter ride in distance covered, it still packs a punch with 1500m of altitude gain. The scenery was diverse, and the roads had minimal traffic.
