Start: Huergas de Babia, Asturias, Spain
OK, I have to admit, I did feel like a cheat on this ride. This is seriously, the easiest col climb with that proper alpine feel! Starting at Huergas de Babia you have a pleasant ride to reach San Emilliano. Having just spent time in the Asturias region, León felt stark in comparison. The countryside was more typical of what you expect in Spain.
After an easy climb to the col, a short descent brings you to an intersection and a small climb to the village of Torrestio. This village sits on the other side of the Alto de la Farrapona, from which you could ride to if you are willing to tackle a gravel road. After passing back through San Emiliano the ride takes another small detour to bring you back to your starting point.
As you can see from the photos, this is a great ride through some really picturesque landscape.
