Start:  Barr, Bas-Rhin, France

Leaving the town of Barr you head up the valley and enter dense forest for approximately 20 kilometers. Enroute to the small village of Le Hohwald (780m), there is the option of a side trip to the abbey, Mont Sainte-Odile, where there are great views of the region. Following this side trip, you reach the Col de Keinberg and the descent rewards you for your effort as the surface is smooth and the descent non-technical. The second major climb of the day takes you to Col de Kreuzweg followed by long descent. With the exception of the two major climbs through forest, the rest of the ride is through picture perfect Alasce villages and vineyards with chateaus perched high in the landscape. For those that are feeling strong, there is the option to include an ascent up to Haute-Koenigsbourg.
