Start: Arriondas, Asturias, Spain
From the main square in Les Arriondas, this ride traverses north through town. You will turn onto a country road that travels past farms and forest, with some punchy inclines. After approximately 10km, you start to descend down to Ribadesella. Once in Ribadesella it is worth heading down to the beach, famous for its white sand. The ride though, follows the ‘coastal’ road to Nueva. Of the ride, this is probably the least glamorous part. Once at Nueva the route starts to ascend on a minor road through forest. Whilst the climb up to the Colado del Torno (533m) is not long, there are a couple of 12% sections. After reaching the col, you are awarded wonderful views of an open green farming valley. The descent is non-technical and gently weaves its way down until there is a short climb to the Collado de Igena (457m). Here you are protected from the sun by the thick canopy provided by the trees. The ride undulates with the scenery constantly changing from a lush valley floor to rocky walls. After passing over the Collado Zardon (296m), the ride moves through farmland to reach an intersection with the main road back to Cangas de Onis. You pass through this small village, famous for its 5-arched Roman Bridge then via the country roads back to Les Arriondas.
