Start: Le Bourg-d'Oisans, Isere, France

This is a 51km loop that starts with the gruelling 21 hairpin bends of the Alpe d'Huez. How is it possible that on stage 18 of the 2013 edition of the Tour de France the riders rode up this beast twice? The zig and zag of the switchbacks are short though there are a couple with a few longer sections to regain your breath. The ride passes through small villages and farming areas with views over the valley. Once you reach the official finish of the climb to l'Alpe d'Huez, you don't stop there. This ride continues through Alpe d'Huez towards the Col de Sarenne, as did the TDF riders in 2013. The initial descent is steep and on rough road, though further down it becomes less technical with long stretches and little to no traffic. Fantastic views over the valley can be seen. If you are feeling brave, why not tackle the climb again?
