StartAigle, Vaud, Switzerland

This ride leaves the small Swiss village of Aigle.  Initially as you climb out of town the road is moderately busy though after approximately 10 kilometres, the ride takes a right turn and crosses a large bridge at which point the traffic decreases.   On reaching the small ski village of Ormont-Dessus there is a sign indicating a left turn to take you to the Col du Pillon.  Once you have weaved your way through the chalets, the beauty of the massif ‘Les Diablerets’ is there to be admired.  On this ride, after reaching the Col du Pillon, you return to Ormont-Dessus the way you ascended and then head to the north east to reach the Col de la Croix.  This ascent has more of a typical Swiss col climb, with switchbacks and S-bends meandering up to the col.  The scenery is truly wonderful making light work of a hard ride. The descent is long, fast and fun to the village of Villars sur Ollon.  Once you reach the valley floor, there is a relatively short flat section back to the start of the ride.
